Look Unto God not Psychics, Tarot Readers or Astrologers

"Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft."- (Leviticus 19:26)

Happy NEW YEARS!! 🎆

I know it’s been a minute, but let’s jump right into today’s post. I felt like doing this topic today because I always want to keep it real with you all about my Christianity and the struggles I face as a Christian. When I became a Christian and decided to follow Christ I had to give up a lot of my old ways including constantly reading my monthly horoscopes, googling my compatibility with other signs and so forth. Some might see checking their horoscope signs as something fun or harmless but do you ever stop and think how is it possible for human beings to predict your present and future? I always believe God has the answer to everything and He’s the only one that can tell you what you need to know. I believe the reason why we focus on zodiac signs is because we are constantly looking for answers...easy answers! Looking for answer everywhere else but from God. For the most part that was what I was dealing with. Even till recently I struggled with this until I realized that God works differently than we do. Some of the questions we ask God we don’t always receive answer to at the time we want or in the way we expect. I am one of the people that struggled with waiting for God’s response especially when it comes to relationships. So, instead of me opening up the word of God or asking God directly I went searching for answers in other ways. I would go on YouTube and look up Scorpio Tarot’s signs every single day. It became something I was addicted to for 2 weeks straight. It started to affect my relationship with God tremendously. I went from praying on my way to work in the morning to watching tarot videos before work, on my break and after work. Watching physics and tarot’s readers predicting how my relationships would be started taking a toll on my mindset. It affected the way I thought, the way I saw the person I liked and it brought more confusion into my life. It didn’t take me a while to realize that most of the information and teachings I was getting were false or inaccurate. Instead of it bringing me peace it brought me sadness, worries and constant hurt within. Then I started asking myself why am I doing this? I knew deep down in my spirit this was not right. As humans we tend to see things from the surface but God made me realize that there’s more to horoscopes and tarot’s than what we see. It’s not part of God and anything that’s not part of God we should never entertain.

Since I was dissatisfied with the answers I was getting from these tarot readings I decided to go back to God and see what he had to say about this. This is what God told me through His Word:

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead of you. But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord your God forbids you to do such things.” - (Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:9-14‬)

Tarot cards are linked with divination and unlocks the secrets of the future by occult or supernatural powers. God warns us His people and tells us  through His Word that He’s against divination! He lists divination as evil amongst child sacrifice and casting spells in Deuteronomy 18:9–12. Leviticus 19:26 blatantly says: “Do not practice divination or seek omens.” Tarot card reading is prohibited in the House of the Lord. We should not follow the ways of world and try to read our future from anything or anyone but God. Jeremiah 10:2 says, "Do not act like the other nations, who try to read their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though other nations are terrified by them.”

In a lot of cases tarot card readings can be guided by demons. In Acts 16, Paul meets a fortune teller, a slave, who earned her masters a lot of money by fortune-telling (verse 16). The Bible attributes her ability to having a demonic spirit, which Paul was able to cast out of her by the name of Jesus Christ (verse 18). The Bible does not mention the tools the slave girl used to tell the future, but, whether tea leaves or dice or lots or cards of some type, the items used in that context brought honor to demonic spirits.

The spiritual realm is real, and should not to be taken lightly. The Bible tells us that Satan seeks to destroy us. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

Though tarot and the like for it may seem like no big deal and just for fun, in reality it's something that should not be played with. Through my personal experience the more I seeked advice from tarot readers the more I became attached and fell deeper into darkness. It’s okay to want to know about your future, but using tarot is not the right way. We shouldn’t put our faith in tarot, instead we should TRUST in the Lord.

Isaiah 46:10 says "Only God holds the future, and only He truly knows what will happen". This is further echoed in Romans 8:17: "If you desire to have peace about your future, turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. The future is bright for those who know Him".

Please I advice you all to look unto God for everything because He is the only one that truly knows us and understands us.

One Love ❤️

  3. Thank you for this! I was just like you a few months ago. Constantly glued to youtube and watch tarot readings for my sign driving to work, on my break or a home for HOURS! I started to notice I was feeling more and more confused, sad and just overall drained. I promised God id never watch them again and just depend on him even when it may be difficult to do so. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. God is so merciful and faithful!
