Be Happy For Other People's Success & Blessings

"For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."
- (Psalms 5:12)

Lately, I have been finding myself getting jealous of other people's success especially those that I personally know. Every time I get on Facebook it is either someone just got a huge job position or a raise. Or someone just passed a particular test before I did. For a second, seeing other people succeed while I continue to go through learning/growing stages made me question God's abilities. I found myself crying and asking God WHY?! Until The Holy Spirit said to me, "Do not worry, your time is coming. No need to be jealous or envious of other people's blessings. Be happy for them, stay encouraged and focus on your journey with God." At that very point I was sick and tired of constantly going through rough times. I just wanted to see some kind of light while walking through this narrow path with God. But deep inside of me I knew I was being unfair to God because I knew that there is nothing God has not done for me. He has done more than what I deserve or expect from Him. So, for me to not be happy for another woman's success made me realize that I need to still work on my thought process and change the way I see life. As a Christian the right thing to do is to be happy for those who are happy. It is okay to congratulate others for their success.

Think about it!

How does someone's own success hinder you from becoming successful? It does not! Another persons success does not cancel your success. In fact, you being genuinely happy for them can motivate you in your journey as well. If God has blessed them best believe that God will surely bless you too. God does not play favorites when it comes to blessing his children.

After finally calming down and thinking things through I started to realize my blessings in that present moment. Looking around me I noticed that I have a roof on top of my head, comfortable bed and food on the table. God has always provided for me even when I lacked in certain areas. I have always had supportive parents and siblings that love me to the heaven tops. I am surrounded by people that genuinely care about me and tell me how much I inspire them every single day. How could I have allowed myself to be so jealous to not see the blessings that were overflowing and to add cherries on top of what I just said I am also a child of God. I have been wonderfully made and specifically chosen by him. "See how very much our father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are.
 - (1 John 3:1)

God has not forgotten you and I. The bible says, "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." - (Philippians 1:6) That very verse should assure you that God's blessings on your life are true and also real.

Being happy for others is a good choice to make and a Godly one for that matter. The Bible tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves and that includes caring about someone else's success even through your storm. That is why I have decided to pray about my jealous ways, repent and continue to allow God to renew my mind. I know and believe that through obedience He shall surely help me through this.

Another thing that God has pointed out to me is that if I am genuinely happy for others, blessings can easily come my way even without me expecting it. Having the opportunity to be apart of other people's success can be victorious. I know that every time someone tells me to pray for them and God answers my prayers it makes me happy. I am able to value my purpose on this earth as a child of God.

Note to self:
"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." (Luke 6:38)
